My work as a music producer involves the recording, mixing of audio projects. It also includes songwriting, arranging and session playing where appropriate. All services are available in combination or individually. Every project is different, so get in touch to chat about what you might require.
RECORDING
The recording process facilitates the pristine capture of vocals, instruments and other textures via analogue multitracking. Through the process of live tracking and overdubbing with exceptional microphones and analogue gear, the recording stage begins to shape the overall tonality and feel of the track, injecting vibe and character into every project.
PRODUCTION, SONGWRITING AND ARRANGING
SESSION PLAYING
Session playing can add the right musical detail, feel and character to a record, whether that’s recreating an existing part or developing something new. I can contribute piano, drums, bass, guitar and MIDI instrumentation, drawing on my experience across live performance, touring and studio work. I work closely with the artist and production to create parts that complement the song and fit naturally within the finished record..
Production brings creative input and musical direction alongside recording and mixing services. I can help develop songs, structures, arrangements and instrumentation, from early ideas through to finished tracks, while providing an outside perspective throughout the process.
Whether writing parts, developing harmonies or shaping the overall sound, the aim is to bring out the strongest version of the song and make sure every musical and production decision serves the record.
MIXING
The mixing process transforms multi-track recordings into finished work, ready for mastering. I mix with a hybrid approach, using digital software and analogue hardware to further enhance recordings through tonal and dynamic shaping and time-based depth effects. The mixing stage also provides room for further creative enhancement, through automation, distortion, reamplification and much more, taking recordings to the next level and creating an immersive and exciting experience for the listener.
