ABOUT ME.
I'm Stefan Livingston, a Glasgow-based Producer, Recording / Mixing Engineer and Pianist.
RECORDING, MIXING AND PRODUCTION
I put my musical and technical experience to use in the studio, working with talented local artists to bring their creative visions to life. I often help with songwriting, structure and arrangement in advance and throughout studio sessions, particularly with solo artists looking for full band arrangements. I use careful instrument, amplifier, microphone and gear selection to capture what already sounds great in the room, before bringing everything together through editing and mixing, making sure the finished record feels cohesive, exciting and true to the artist’s original vision.
SONGWRITING AND ARRANGING
Songwriting and arrangement are naturally part of my production process, helping develop a track alongside recording and production. I can offer an outside perspective on structure, instrumentation and harmony, whether working with a solo artist or a full band.
I write and record parts on piano, bass, drums and MIDI instruments, using my knowledge of theory and harmony to help develop ideas and bring songs further to life.
PREVIOUS WORK
I’ve worked across a range of recording and production projects, from independent artists through to larger professional sessions. I have recorded, performed, produced and mixed numerous records for local artists including The Cloaks, Jeremy Mbiba, Wanderer and many more. I'm experienced across a range of styles and instrumentations, having worked on amplified band setups, stripped back acoustic sets, classical cello, violin and harp performances, audio-books and voice-overs, to name a few.
I’ve also worked as an assistant engineer and editor on larger projects, including sessions with Twin Atlantic, Indoor Foxes and Bottle Rockets, and was part of the recording team for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, for Amazon Prime film 'Heads of State'.
SESSION PLAYING
I’m an experienced multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, drums, bass, guitar and MIDI instruments across a wide range of styles. I’ve played these instruments both in the studio and on stage, including live performances and touring with bands, bringing that experience into sessions to create parts that feel natural and work for the song.

A first class degree at UWS provided me with a comprehensive background in the music industries, as well as 4 years of hands-on studio time in their state-of-the-art music studios. Learning from Mixing and Mastering engineer, Paul McGeechan, of 'Love and Money' was a huge privilege and helped my skills within the studio environment to flourish.

Following an education in the music industries at UWS, I decided to further my skills at Riverside Music College (RMC), where I continued to develop and grow. The opportunity to use RMC studios outside of teaching hours with local artists provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with musicians from diverse backgrounds and gain experience across multiple genres.
